About Sour Pickle Cafe

Sour Pickle Cafe is the kind of restaurant you introduce with a smile, especially when you’re talking about good food and easygoing vibes in Victoria. Located at 1623 Store St, Victoria, BC V8W 3K3, Canada, this spot feels instantly welcoming, like a place locals quietly recommend and visitors are happy to discover. When I talk about Sour Pickle Cafe, I usually start with the atmosphere, because it strikes a balance between relaxed and lively without trying too hard. You can drop in for a quick bite, settle in with a coffee, or take your time enjoying a proper meal, and somehow it all feels natural here. The restaurant setup makes it flexible too, offering outdoor seating when the weather cooperates, along with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options that fit different plans and moods. Food-wise, Sour Pickle Cafe keeps things approachable yet thoughtful, which is part of its charm. The menu leans into healthy options while still feeling satisfying, so you don’t feel like you’re compromising flavor for balance. It’s the sort of place where grabbing coffee turns into staying longer than expected, because the space encourages conversation and comfort. I often describe the service as smooth and friendly, not overly formal, but attentive enough that you feel looked after without interruption. That easy rhythm makes it a solid choice whether you’re meeting friends, catching up on work, or just passing through downtown. What stands out most when introducing Sour Pickle Cafe is how consistently it delivers a relaxed restaurant experience that fits everyday life, offering good food, dependable service options, and a casual setting that feels genuine rather than staged. I also mention how the location makes it easy to work into a day of exploring, since it’s close enough to wander in without planning ahead. Whether you’re local or new to the area, Sour Pickle Cafe feels like a comfortable pause in the middle of a busy schedule, where food, coffee, and atmosphere line up naturally.

Great little cafe. Lots of food on the plate and delicious. My wife got French toast with a side order of eggs and i opted for the Mexican omelette. Nice hot coffee and cold water too. Recommend

Wandering, looking for breakfast. As we walked toward what we thought we were going to have for breakfast, we passed the Sour Pickle. The smell of breakfast wafting from the restaurant grabbed my sniffer and led us to the front of the store to look at the menu. A Quick Look and we decided to give the pickle a go. Me and the boss decided on the Mexican omelet and a coffee. What a meal. Toast and crisp, delicious hash browns shared the plate with the main attraction, an enormous three egg omelet stuffed with peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and onions topped with cheese and salsa sauce. The boss had me finish her omelet but by God I finished all mine too…. Thankfully we had a walk back to the hotel to work some of that big breakfast off. Prices are in line with every other place here in Victoria, however this is a local, husband and wife team that make awesome food and seem genuinely happy to be serving their brand of home cooking to the people. I wouldn’t hesitate to drop in again when we return and try another menu item, wish we had found you sooner!

Very good place to have breakfast. No line up but steady busy. Our meal was good. Lots on our plate. We were both full after eating our meal. My husband had an omelette and I had bacon and eggs. Both came with toast and fried potatoes. Also had coffee and an orange juice. Served quickly. A little expensive at $62.00, but that's what it costs these days. She gave us coffee to go as part of our meal.

I had breakfast at the cafe on a recent trip to Victoria and had a very pleasant experience. Would highly recommend for a home cooking experience The location is very central - right at Johnson Bridge Store Street - close to the harbour, shopping, Chinatown. I had the breakfast with scrambled eggs sausages and toast. Everything was made from scratch (just like home cooking!) fresh and delicious. Portions were generous. Just hit the spot. In addition the coffee is bottomless cup. It’s a family run cafe and service was courteous and friendly. The decor is very whimsical and cheerful with special place for pickle decorations . There is a small outdoor seating area for nicer weather days. Very reasonably priced and a much cozier, friendlier start to the day than at bigger restaurants in the area. There were regulars when we dined there which added to the cozy ambience.

Had a heavy travel day yesterday, needed a breakfast spot for a table of six. Called in advance and able to get a reservation if we were there in 10 minutes. The food was a huge portion size. Bonus that they had bubble tea. The only issue was one of our party has a gluten allergy and they were not willing to substitute more hash towns and remove the English muffin for the egg Benedict, but were able to remove the toast for more hash browns with the omelette… We don’t know why one but not the other. We had the veggie omelet, Mexican omelette, breakfast sandwich, and bacon plate. We saw there is an 5% charge if you use any card other than a Canadian debit card. Overall, happy for our party with this find today!
